Volunteer Spotlight: Masa Zokaei
In the weeks leading up to Website Weekend LA 2016, we’ll be shining the spotlight on some of the volunteers who will be donating their time and talent during the event to help build websites for local nonprofit organizations that are doing good in the community. Today, we meet Masa Zokaei!
What’s your day job?
I’m a Content Strategist at Phelps, an IMC agency in Playa Vista, CA.
How will you be using your experience to help during Website Weekend?
During Website Weekend, I want to contribute to the project with my background in UX, project management, and Content Strategy. I want to help the people I work with understand who we are designing for, and to think outside the box. Let’s make these websites next level!
What was your favorite project that you ever worked on?
I loved working with my team at the Global Service Jam in February where, over three days, we identified a problem and created a service design to help solve it! It was great to work with people from such different work and experience backgrounds to create something new together.
Why are you exited about Website Weekend?
I’m excited to be able to help a non-profit organization have a website they can use by the end of the weekend. I’m also looking forward to working with people I may never worked with before!
What’s your favorite book, movie, or tv show?
TV shows that I watched obsessively were Dexter, Arrested Development, and Pushing Daisies. Right now it’s Empire and Mindy Project. As far as movies I like “I Love You Man” and “Amelie”. I’m a UX and Content Strategy nerd and I like to read about both as much as I can. Right now it’s Kristina Halvorson’s “Content Strategy for the Web” and for inspiration, Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Big Magic”.
What’s your favorite color?
My favorite colors are blue and green.
