Volunteer Spotlight: Stephanie Froehner
In the weeks leading up to Website Weekend LA 2016, we’ll be shining the spotlight on some of the volunteers who will be donating their time and talent during the event to help build websites for local nonprofit organizations that are doing good in the community. Today, we meet Stephanie Froehner!
What’s your day job?
I am a designer at FiveSixTwo, Inc., an enterprise software agency. We’re a startup, so I get to work on lots of different aspects of our products. I meet our customers and discuss their goals, wireframe and prototype, conduct user interviews and testing, create visual designs, and work with developers for implementation.
How will you be using your experience to help during Website Weekend?
I love working on websites and as a design generalist with startup experience, I know I how to work quickly and fill roles as needed.
What was your favorite project that you ever worked on?
I worked on a YouTube channel called WellCast a few years ago. I loved my team and it was my first introduction to finding success by prioritizing content strategy and listening to our users.
Why are you excited about Website Weekend?
So many reasons!
- Website Weekend will be my first “Hackathon.”
- I’m interested in working with a non-profit.
- I really love Girl Develop It’s mission and can’t wait to participate in one of their events.
What’s your favorite book, movie or tv show?
“Designing for Performance” changed my life. I’ve always been interested in the technical side of web design, but this book really helped me get an understanding of how my design decisions (and a developer’s implementation) affect user experience.
My favorite TV show is Pushing Daisies! Lots of bright colors, fast-talking, and grisly murders!
What’s your favorite color?
Red and Gold! I skate with Angel City Derby Girls. Our international team is playing in the WFTDA Championships right now, so team spirit is high.
