That’s a Wrap!

Phew! That was one hectic and intense weekend, but a good time was had by all and some really good work was done. Thank you to everyone who participated, whether you were building a website, helping with registration and serving meals, or helping with photos and video. Many hands make light work and we pulled off a really amazing event, so way to go everybody!

We’ve got a photo and video gallery where we’ll be adding photos and videos from the event as they’re approved by our venue hosts. Please take a look at the awesome group of people who spent their weekend doing good work.

We’ll be posting up information about the projects that were done and the impact of those projects on the participating organizations soon, so keep your eyes peeled for those!

What’s your day job?

I’m still in the midst of a gradual career change after quitting my job in communications/marketing/PR to start getting more into software development. Right now I’m doing freelance web development, and I’m finally starting to feel like a legit programmer!

I also spend a lot of my time volunteering for women-in-tech organizations and meetup groups; I’m the newest co-chapter leader of Girl Develop It LA! And I also run my own group called Learn to Code LA, which I hope to turn into an official nonprofit one day. Right now I’m really immersed in creating curriculum for programming workshops and organizing events for people who are new to programming, especially for women and others who are underrepresented in tech.
