What’s your day job?

I am a Web Designer and Front-end Developer at InMotion Hosting in Los Angeles, CA.

How will you be using your experience to help during Website Weekend?

Most of my day-to-day responsibilities are to brainstorm, design and develop landing pages, banner ads, prints, etc. We analyze the user experience and interaction on our current websites in order to improve a better flow and experience for our users. Website Weekend Los Angeles is a Hackathon. Some people may be confused what a hackathon is. When explaining this event to my family, they often ask: “Isn’t that like the thing from the ‘Social Network?'”

What’s your day job?

My day job (and often my night job) is working for and running Pixel Jar. Pixel Jar is a custom WordPress development firm I founded with Brandon Dove in 2004. We have developed custom WordPress solutions since 2007.

How will you be using your experience to help during Website Weekend?

I’ve help create many, many websites over the years. And I’ve seen trends come and go. In the end, what I’ve truely learned is how to build a site that is usable by the client and accessible by the end user. I’ve seen sites succeed and fail because of the passion from the owner. What I hope to do is play to the strengths of the site administrator so they may play to the strengths of the end user and maximize the potential of the site.
