Volunteer Spotlight: Sundee Koffarnus
In the weeks leading up to Website Weekend LA 2016, we’ll be shining the spotlight on some of the volunteers who will be donating their time and talent during the event to help build websites for local nonprofit organizations that are doing good in the community. Today, we meet Sundee Koffarnus!
What’s your day job?
I work as an independent art director and graphic designer.
How will you be using your experience to help during Website Weekend?
I bring visual design and strategy, brand identity, typography, color palettes, infographics, etc.
I also bring a perspective from the marketing and advertising fields.
My coding skills are entry level HTLM and CSS, and I have a basic understanding of responsive design with a mobile first approach.
In addition, I am organized, detail-oriented and resourceful.
What was your favorite project that you ever worked on?
My favorite project was a magazine redesign. There are many reasons to redesign and in this case, it was due to a revamped editorial approach. I enjoyed it from the start because I worked with the editor to develop a visual strategy with our overall goal being increased readership. I am proud to say, we did increase readership within six issues.
Why are you excited about Website Weekend?
I thoroughly enjoy being of service and contributing to the nonprofit sector. I also look forward to the challenge of working with a new team and a two-day deadline.
What’s your favorite book, movie or tv show?
This is a short but excellent book that helped me see myself in a new way: The Four Agreements, A Toltec Wisdom Book, by Don Miguel Ruiz
What’s your favorite color?
Hex code #FF00FF, also known as magenta.
