Volunteer Spotlight: Jennifer McCutchen
In the weeks leading up to Website Weekend LA 2016, we’ll be shining the spotlight on some of the volunteers who will be donating their time and talent during the event to help build websites for local nonprofit organizations that are doing good in the community. Today, we meet Jennifer McCutchen!
What’s your day job?
I am a content design lead at Fjord, a global design and innovation agency.
How will you be using your experience to help during Website Weekend?
I am a UX-focused content designer with a background in writing and editing. While I don’t write much in my day job, I think my background in publishing, along with my skills in UX, content design and IA, will help improve the digital experience of the nonprofits participating in Website Weekend.
What was your favorite project that you ever worked on?
I can’t get into specifics of my favorite project (NDA), but the ones I most enjoy working on are those that serve a greater social good and create a meaningful impact. Not all of my work spans these sectors though, so when that doesn’t happen, I geek off on the projects in which I can improve the content experience from a service design perspective – looking at the frontstage and backstage end-to-end experience, creating a strategy that meets the user needs (both frontend and backend users) and designing a content experience that speaks to the strategy and vision.
Why are you excited about Website Weekend?
The ability to apply my skills to local nonprofits doing good work.
What’s your favorite book, movie or tv show?
Favorite book is A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers.
What’s your favorite color?
